Who are we?

At the Active Travel Hub Ayr our dedicated staff and volunteers are here to promote active and sustainable travel across South Ayrshire. This means encouraging people to walk, cycle, scooter, rollerblade, skateboard, or whatever else they can think of that uses their own body power to get places.

Making more short, everyday journeys by your own body power is great for your mental and physical health, it’s better for the environment than driving and it’s basically free. Triple win!

So how do we actually do this?

  • Personalised travel planning and advice in the Hub
  • Support local events
  • Run short led rides and walks
  • Dr Bike sessions
  • Provide local knowledge
  • Work in partnership with other organisations with similar aims
  • Support local businesses in promoting cycle to work schemes

We would love to hear from you what barriers you have to travelling actively that we may be able to help you overcome, or suggestions of the kind of events you would like to see us running.

You can find us at the front of Ayr Railway Station. Our core opening hours are:

Monday 10am-1pm

Tuesday 1pm-4pm

Wednesday 10am-1pm

Thursday 1pm-4pm

Friday 10am-1pm

We are also available online at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and email to arrange meet ups outside those times.

The Active Travel Hub - Ayr is being funded by Smarter Choices, Smarter Places in partnership with South Ayrshire Council and Scotrail.
